Crushed Pinecone Snowflake Platter
Materials
Pinecones (around 8-10, depending on size)
White craft glue or Mod Podge
Frosted glitter (silver or white)
Acrylic white spray paint
Large round platter or wooden disc (16-18 inches in diameter)
Paintbrush
Craft paper or newspaper (to protect surfaces)
Disposable gloves
Directions
Cover your work surface with craft paper or newspaper to protect it.
Wearing disposable gloves, gently break apart the pinecones into small pieces and then crush them further with your hands or a rolling pin until they are the desired size.
Spread the crushed pinecone pieces evenly on the covered surface.
Using the acrylic white spray paint, lightly coat the crushed pinecones to give them a frosted, snow-kissed look. Allow them to dry completely.
Once dry, apply a generous layer of white craft glue or Mod Podge over the dried pinecones using a paintbrush.
Sprinkle the frosted glitter over the glued pinecones, ensuring an even coverage. Let the glue dry completely so the glitter sets in place.
Arrange the glittered, crushed pinecones in a snowflake pattern on the large round platter or wooden disc. Adjust and rearrange until you are satisfied with the design.
Secure the pinecone pieces in place by applying more glue to the base and pressing them onto the platter. Allow the entire arrangement to dry thoroughly before displaying.
Variations & Tips
For a more colorful version, consider using different shades of glitter, such as gold or blue, to match your existing decor. You can also experiment with different shapes and sizes of platters, or add small ornaments or beads to the design for additional embellishment. If you prefer a more natural look, you can omit the spray paint and only use the glitter on the pinecones. This DIY is highly customizable, allowing you to tailor the colors and elements to fit your personal style or seasonal theme.
