I got home to my apartment today and saw this note taped to my door basically announcing that the water is being shut off for the next 24–48 hours because of some water main break.

No warning, no heads up earlier, just a piece of printer paper on my door like that somehow solves the problem. Apparently the plan is that we’re all just supposed to magically “prepare” after the water is already gone.

So yeah, I immediately went and grabbed a few bottles of water because I’m not about to sit in my own apartment unable to flush a toilet or wash my hands while management sends out polite little notices thanking everyone for their “patience.” If they knew the repair could take two days, maybe they should’ve thought about giving residents some actual time to prepare instead of acting like this is no big deal.

But what really gets me is the tone of the note thanking everyone for their cooperation. Cooperation with what exactly? I’m literally paying rent to live somewhere with running water, not to suddenly role-play as someone rationing bottled water in my own hallway. If this goes the full 48 hours I’m seriously considering deducting the cost of every bottle I buy from my rent.
