Our boss just announced we’re getting two hours off this Tuesday so everyone can go show respect to our general manager, Ken. The second I heard “two hours off,” I’m not even gonna lie, that’s all I cared about. Free time in the middle of the workday? Say less.

But let’s be real, I was never a fan of him anyway. Acting like we’re all supposed to show up and celebrate someone who made everyone’s life harder is crazy. Half the time he wasn’t even respectful to the same people now expected to go out of their way for him.

I’m looking around at my coworkers talking about attending like it’s some big meaningful thing, and I’m just thinking they’re tripping. Couldn’t be me. I’m taking that time and doing something I actually care about.

End of the day, they can go stand around and pretend. I’m turning those two hours into something way better.
