Pulled up to the drivethru and instead of just ordering like a normal person, I’m staring at a

handwritten sign taped to the window asking for “$1 cash” for charity in exchange for cookies. Not even on the system, not on the receipt, just straight up “hand it over.” Yeah… no.

I asked the cashier what that was about and she starts explaining it’s for a “local cause” like that’s supposed to make it legit. I told her I’m not handing random cash through a window with no record, no proof, nothing. I don’t care if it’s a dollar, it’s the principle. If it’s real, put it in the system like every other donation they push at checkout.

She got all awkward and tried to laugh it off, but I wasn’t playing along. I told her straight up it looks like a side hustle using company stuff and I’m not funding it. I paid for my food and skipped the whole “deal” completely.

I’m not here to be guilt tripped into tossing money at a piece of paper taped to glass. If that makes me look stingy or heartless, then fine, because I’m not about to pretend that setup didn’t look shady.
